Solar & renewables: what buyers need from the mould
A solar junction box collects the DC output of solar panels or strings, and a combiner or string box joins several strings with fuses and surge protection before the inverter. For outdoor solar plants these boxes are often compression moulded from UV-stable SMC, which does not rust, insulates and keeps its strength in full sun for decades.
Solar projects specify long outdoor life, IP65 or better, UV resistance and fire safety. Those properties come from the SMC compound and from a mould that gives a flat sealing face, a consistent gasket groove and strong, crack-free mounting points.
As India adds solar capacity at rooftops, farms and parks, makers of solar panel junction boxes, solar PV junction boxes, PV combiner boxes and AC/DC distribution boxes need reliable moulds that can run at volume. We build these moulds for solar junction box manufacturers in India, who run them in their own presses.
Solar moulds we build
What a solar enclosure mould must deliver
IP65 / IP66 sealing
Flat mating faces and a continuous gasket groove so boxes pass water and dust tests.
UV and heat stability
A mould that cures the UV-stable SMC fully and evenly, so the surface does not chalk or warp outdoors.
Gland and MC4 entries
Cable gland bosses and entry points placed and reinforced to the drawing.
Strong mounting points
Mounting lugs and brass inserts that hold on rails and poles in wind and vibration.
Materials and mould design
Outdoor solar boxes are usually UV-stable SMC, also sold as FRP or GRP enclosures. See also our junction and distribution box moulds.
Every mould starts with a free DFM review: draft, wall section, shear edge, charge placement and press tonnage are checked before steel is cut. Read more about compression moulds and the moulding process.
