Lighting: what buyers need from the mould
Street light and flood light housings protect the LED driver and light engine and carry away heat, so most are aluminium die cast. The street light junction box at the pole base and many lamp holder parts are compression moulded from SMC or DMC for insulation and weather resistance.
Lighting makers need both kinds of tooling. We build SMC and DMC compression moulds for pole boxes, covers and lamp parts, and we repair, modify and make new core and cavity inserts for the die casting dies that produce LED street light and flood light housings.
Lighting moulds and dies we work on
What lighting tooling must deliver
Heat-sink fins
Fine, deep fins on die cast housings depend on well-maintained inserts, venting and cooling in the die.
Sealing faces
Flat faces and gasket grooves so housings and pole boxes keep their IP rating outdoors.
Insulating parts
DMC and SMC parts that insulate and withstand heat near the lamp and driver.
Die life
Regular die repair and insert replacement keep housing quality steady over long runs.
Materials and mould design
Pole junction boxes and covers are usually SMC; lamp holder parts are often DMC. For die cast street light and flood light housings, see our die casting die repair and inserts.
Every mould starts with a free DFM review: draft, wall section, shear edge, charge placement and press tonnage are checked before steel is cut. Read more about compression moulds and the moulding process.
